Financial Aid

Required Documents for Student Employment

If you are a first time student employee at UMF you must meet three prerequisites prior to starting your new position.  After these prerequisites are fulfilled, you will be given a work packet containing a work authorization, information about our job listing site, and other information pertinent to start-up in the program.
  1. You are required to watch a Chemical Hazard training video at Mantor Library.  Before you view the video, you must print out the Chemical Hazard Video Form or obtain the form from the Financial Aid Office.  You need to have this form with you when you go to Mantor Library.  A Mantor Library employee is required to sign this form verifying that you have reviewed the Chemical Hazard video.

  2. You are required to complete the Federal W-4 and State of Maine W-4 Income Tax withholding forms.

  3. You are required to complete an I-9 Form (if you haven't already done so at UMF within the past 3 years) which certifies your eligibility to work in the U.S.  This form is to be completed in the Financial Aid Office.  With this form you must show documentation which establishes identity and employment eligibility such as a U.S. passport, Certificate of Naturalization, or Alien Registration Card.  An alternative is to provide one document which establishes identity such as a driver's license, or military ID card, and one document which establishes employment eligibility such as an original Social Security Card or a certified birth certificate.  You will not be able to work or pick up your work packet if you do not bring this documentation with you.

All documents above are to be returned to the Financial Aid Office and are available on our website in PDF format.  If you do not have the Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free from Adobe's website.
