American Meteorological Society Scholarships

AMS/Industry Minority Scholarships:
Applicants must be entering his or her freshman year of college to be eligible.  The AMS/Industry Minority Scholarship will award funding to minority students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American and Black/African American students, who intend to pursue careers in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences.  The scholarships are good for two years and are in the amount of $3,000 per year.

AMS/Industry Undergraduate Scholarships:
Applicants must be college juniors with a GPA of at least 3.0 and be in studying in the fields of atmospheric sciences, oceanography, hydrology, chemistry, computer sciences, mathematics, engineering, and physics who intend to pursue a career in the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences. The scholarships are good for two years and are in the amount of $2,000 per year.

AMS Undergraduate Scholarships:
Applicants must be entering his or her final undergraduate year to be eligible to apply, and be majoring in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic science, and must show clear intent to make the atmospheric or related science their career.  The number of scholarships and their amounts vary.

Father James B. Macelwane Award
The purpose of this award is to stimulate interest in meteorology among college students through the encouragement of original student papers concerned with some phase of the atmospheric sciences.  The student must be enrolled as an undergraduate at the time the paper is written, and no more than two students from any one institution may enter papers in any one contest.  The award is a one time sum of $300.
