Futurama Career Advancement Scholarship

Description:

This scholarship is open to women who are Maine residents, thirty years of age or older, need financial assistance in order to improve skills or to complete education for career advancement, have a definite plan to use the desired training in a practical and immediate way to improve chances for advancement, to train for a new career field, or to enter or reenter the job market.  Applicants must also provide information about the specific course of study at an accredited school, be qualified as an applicant for the course, and be officially accepted into the program or course of study.

Award:

One award will be given in the amount of $1200.

How to apply:

Applications for this scholarship can be picked up at the UMF Merrill Center.  Other materials to be submitted along with the completed application form are an official transcript from the school(s) attended, verification of acceptance from the school or college, at least two letters of recommendation concerning this application, from school officials, teachers, employers, or other persons not related to the applicant, and a signed statement by the applicant indicating educational, personal and career goals for the future, the family financial situation (if applicable), and financial need.

Completed applications must be received by April 20.  Send materials to the local chapter of the Maine Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. (Addresses of local chapters are included with the application.)
